Similarities between Egypt and UK

Has anybody noticed the main thing that caused the uprising in Egypt was an unelected Government riding roughshod over the people. We have exactly the same situation in the UK with our unelected Government riding roughshod over the people. It is made even worse by unelected European beaurocrats trying bto change our way of life. How long will it before the people of the uk revolt and demand an election so we can return to democracy.

Britain is still essentially democratic. We can choose another Governement in 4 or 5 years. We can also withdraw from Europe if we so wish... though there doesn't appear to be any real demand to do so. In the last election UKIP received 5.3% of the vote in Torbay. Nevertheless, local folk do get angry: in 1990 Paignton Green saw 5,000 anti Poll Tax protestors at a demonstration and Torbay produced an anti Poll Tax petition containing 35,000 names, around a third of the total population.

Too much lethargy in Britain and our rebellious public are too comfortable on their benefits to revolt!

Your dislike for the present, as you call it, 'unelected' government is well logged Hoppy and fair enough if that's how you want to see it, but to make a comparison between our current situation and the past 30 years in Egypt kind of reminds me of Basil Fawlty bellowing at all his unco-operative guests "This is EXACTLY how Nazi Germany started". A bit of an overstatement I'm afraid.

i dont think we can justly link a borderline facist dictatorship with a coalition government.the coalition itself is defined by democracy.something they are lacking and quite rightly voicing their concerns about in Egypt.
also lets not forget where limp socialism got us in the first place.
