TOMORROW night's edition of "Swingers & Singers" (8-10pm) with yours truly on BBC Radio in the West & SW & 'live' on-line is a celebration of some of the truly great and enduring songs and tunes that became hits in Britain in May between 1900 and 1929, inc: "I'll See You In My Dreams" ~ "Ol' Man River" ~ Makin' Whoopee" ~ "Rock a Bye Your Baby with a Dixie Melody" ~ "I'll Be with You in Apple Blossom Time" and "California Here I Come". Talking of which, the pic is the old ocean liner RMS Queen Mary: now a hotel and berthed at Long Beach, California. Jenny and I were lucky enough to have dinner on-board in her First Class restaurant during our honeymoon in October 2006. Toffs or what? Mind you we were both in T-shirts and shorts at the time. By the way that's a Cold War Russian sub moored alongside her. It's now a museum.
